Our Story
Fred & Freckle was founded by artist Sara Winfield in 2024 with a simple intention:
to bring meaningful art into the lives of young people.
Born from the belief that children deserve beauty, imagination, and emotional connection in their everyday surroundings, Fred & Freckle creates pieces that invite reflection, curiosity, and conversation.
Each artwork draws on themes of nature, spirituality, and gentle symbolism, encouraging a deeper connection to self, to others, and to the world around us. The studio’s playful yet thoughtful aesthetic bridges the gap between childhood wonder and timeless design, offering keepsakes that are made to last in a world often shaped by excess.
Fred & Freckle isn’t about fast decor or fleeting trends. It’s about creating space in both the physical and emotional sense for stillness, storytelling, and joy.
Artist Note
In a world saturated with digital design, AI imagery and fast-paced visuals, I wanted to create a kids’ art brand that celebrates real creativity and human expression.
My career began in the world of children’s interiors, before I took a short break to explore abstraction and become a mother. When I returned to child-focused spaces, I noticed something had shifted. Much of the artwork felt overly digital, lacking substance, originality, and emotional weight.
I believe art should spark curiosity. It can be a gentle but powerful way to start conversations with children about the world, about nature, and about how we care for one another. Through Fred & Freckle, I hope to offer families art that opens up those meaningful moments.
